Brightening things up

 

Okay.. so found this post in my blogger box and some how it has fallen through the publishing loop.... not quite sure why or how..

 

Anyways...

 

The lovely Leanne from Mad About Scrappin sent me some fantastic goodies to play with last month once again.

 

Here's what I had to work with.

So.. I must say I really didn't know where to start as the papers were so yummy. I just didn't want to cut them.

 

Because I didn't want to cut some of them I used them whole page as the base for the first layout I created of my eldest daughter..

 

I also love using the textured card stock for the base of this cute layout too. Simple way to showcase the texture and used up some of the scraps.

 

 

Lastly I used the whole sheet of patterned paper for this layout also. Just cut it away to create a border and then cut the centre piece slightly smaller again. Lots of ink and distressed teamed up with some old book pages helped finish off this layout.

 

Super fun and simple layouts created using this kit and plenty of goodies left over too.

Mad About Scrappin - Layout of the Week - Week 1

 

Welcome to Mad About Scrappin's first ever Layout of the Week.

 

I am pleased to bring you this week the first look at the kit I played around with this week.

 

Now.. I must say.. the kit is very bright, bubbly and a bit girlie looking.

However don't let that scare you off of grabbing all these goodies!

 

Now as most of you may have seen with the work I have created for Mad About Scrappin, I do like to mix up my styles a bit and push myself to create layouts from paper that people wouldn't normally expect.

 

So with that in mind I decided to create a layout of my son... YES !! my son !! using this range of bright pinks, oranges and orange retro looking papers. I don't feel that those colours should be limited to just girlie layouts.

 

I used 1/4" x 9" strips of the mixed patterned paper to create a woven background on the textured white card stock. I then used the card stock butterflies in the pack, lay them where I wanted them and lightly misted the while layout with some Mr Huey's Black Mist.

 

Some areas I did heavier than others and when the chipboard butterflies where lifted up they left a perfect masked image for the background.

 

I then stamped more butterflies onto scraps of the patterned paper and misted butterflies as part of my embellishment clusters.

Added a bit of bling with pink glitter alphas for the main part of my title and pink sequins to the centre of the chipboard butterflies.

 

I finished the layout off using letter stickers to complete my title.

 

Super easy but quite effective.

 

Who says girlie paper can't look great for a boy layout!

Just Because

Just a quick share of a card I sent to a special person in my life just to let them know I appreciated all the support they have been giving me lately.

Exciting and New !!

We will also give you a few tips on how we have created the layout that we hope will inspire you to get creative yourself.

Belated Mothers Day Card share

Yes.. I know... bit of a belated share...

 

But things have been flat out on other fronts so my poor blog has been a little neglected..

 

So.. Just a quick share.

 

This year's Mothers' Day was also my Mum's birthday. It happens every few years that she has two special occasions on the same day. However I still think it is important that we celebrate both occasions in their own right.

 

This year was super funny though because all my kids decided they wanted to create a card for her for each occasion. So in the end Mum received ten cards just from myself and my kids. Mum had a giggle about it when she set them up on her shelf at home.

 

This is the card I created for my Mum for Mother's Day. I used up a few scraps I had laying around with some recycled card as my base. Just a little girlie without being tizzy.

 

Have found this large flower in a pack at the cheap shop and I am love with them so much I have stocked up my stash for ages with them in all different colours.

 

Anyway.. better get back to some work.

Challenging fun with Scrap Around The World

Hello all..

 

Been finally able to scrap for me... what you say... not design team work...

 

YES... have been wanting to play along with a few challenges these past few months and this month I decided now that I have wound down my design team commitments it was time to play.

 

So.. where did I start...

 

Well I just couldn't pass a chance to play along with this month's challenge at Scrap Around The World.

 

When I saw the Scrap Around The World mood board

 and sketch

I just knew it was crying out to be played with.

Must say I it was so much fun to play along because I was able to make so much mess. I had found the photo used in this layout on my daughters camera from our recent trip to Townsville.  It really matched in with the ideas I had flowing from the mood board. I also played around with the sketch a little to suit my portrait photo.

 

So here's my take on the latest Scrap Around The World challenge.

Mind you it is a little hard to see but I did get messy creating the base of my layout using my favourite napkin technique, texture paste, ink, stamps and some twinkling H2Os.

 

 I also created my top layer of my banner using some really yummy washi tape I found stashed away while cleaning my scrap room.

Mad May Birthday Month

Just a few cards to share that I created for last month's round of birthdays..

 

May it seems is a crazy month in this household for birthdays.. and not birthdays of my own children.. but close family and friends birthdays.

 

I dove into the scraps box to create these cards as I have been slowly working through all the odds and sods here as I am sick of them all hanging around.

 

My first card was created for Kiah's school friend. I already had this fairy all coloured so just found some scraps to match and added a bit of bling. Super easy but made Kiah's school friend smile.. which is what it is all about.

 

The next two cards were created for my nephew. I created two cards as I made one for my parents to give to him also. I tried out one of my new Kaiser craft stamps for this one.

 

For the second card I actually used the stamp design packaging as part of the card. I removed the excess clear plastic and used it as a base for my hand coloured image. Super easy and great way to recycle too.
